Today I learned that our degree is the second-highest paid degree after college, number one being petroleum engineering, which doesn't sound like a real degree to me. Score one for us!
i think they said petroleum engineering is upstream research type stuff, which chemE's are definitely up to the task for. never heard of petroleum engineering before though either

I've heard of it ... and you're pretty much right. It's more or less anything engineering that's related to finding/drilling for/refining/etc. oil.
