Where we live
Today I learned that Ken Jennings (Jeopardy star, I hope you all already knew that) has an obsession with maps, and that in his quest to learn more about geography/maps/map quirks, he discovered an old official map of Michigan where the illustrator added imaginary cities "Goblu" and "Beatosu" in northern Ohio. It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine.

Hips don't lie
Today I learned that backwards "cuban motion" in ballroom dancing is similar to moon-walking, and that I'm really bad at it. asian ≠ latina
Double-Double Rainbow!
Today I learned that quadruple rainbows exist! Even though I don't quite understand... I think the extra ones are behind you when you see the double rainbow?

Being old has its advantages?
Today I learned that when you're a grad student, there are such things as "free wine tastings" on campus grounds ... I feel a little old, but who can say no to free booze?

Music Minor is useful, sort of...
Today I learned that when you tell your coworkers that you have a music minor they will make you dj offsite events.

Futility.
Today I learned that umbrellas are totally useless when it's downpouring, windy, and your carpool driver accidentally left their windows open all afternoon. On the bright side, the car has leather seats, so it wasn't too difficult to dry off ... after we were already wet.

A second caffeine source.
Today I (re)learned that coffee really does affect me strongly. I also learned that my taste buds must be on the down slope, because I started liking Earl Grey tea earlier this summer and today I drank one of my first true 'free-will' cups of coffee that didn't taste bad (I wouldn't say delicious yet though). And yes, it woke me up and I was really productive, but yeah - I was definitely jittery.

Summer
Today I learned that ice cream shops are a great place to study since they are open later in the summer than coffee shops and have lots of great people watching opportunities!
Also, I learned that softball ruined any tennis skills I ever had as a kid - this is going to be fun to revive them.
Finally I decided that parents in general should not yell at their kids for eating ice cream 'improperly' - there are simply cleaner and messier ways, but tipping your spoon over onto your tongue really is a more delicious method as proven by children then destroyed and forgotten thanks to parents.

Oh Chemical Engineering
Today I learned what it is like to actually have a process at my finger tips to connect the dots between P&IDs and actual instruments. So awesome. I just wish I understood the whole process now...

Today I learned that showing up to class after a couple beers makes it hard to pay attention, yet is very, very amusing!!

Everything is big
Today I learned that "everything is big in Texas" (well, I kind of already knew that, but what can I say ...) I also learned that when you ask 20-some professors to give 6-minute speeches about their research, they fail miserably, and two hours of research presentations easily morphs into three ...
Regardless, Austin has been great so far! :D

Word
*Facepalm* I just realized that I could use ^ and _ as a shortcut in Word Equation Editor for super and sub-scripts. Bah. I've used that in other applications forever, but not in equation editor where it would make sense.
