Today I learned that when something is in equilibrium, it doesn't change. I actually knew this, but in context, I completely biffed it ...
For some reason, I thought that equilibrium indicated that something would be at a certain mole fraction and would always be at a certain mole fraction ... but actually, it means that the addition of anything else at the same conditions will allow that anything else to stay in its original conditions.
My bad. At least it wasn't a quiz or something else of importance.
My apologies for posting something thermo-related as opposed to a major life lesson.
